Market Your Summer Programs at the Lakewood Summer Activities Fair
Wanted to let you know about an opportunity for you to market your summer programs in Lakewood. The Lakewood Summer Activities Fair will be held on Thursday, June 7th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lakewood City Hall. The purpose of the fair is to bring in youth, teens and families from all over Lakewood, including Joint Bases Lewis and McChord, to a central location where they can discover the many summer events happening in the area. All summer program providers are welcome to market their camps, activities, and summer jobs at this free event.
Set-up will be at 4:00 and we’ll have use of City Hall until 8:00 pm. They will provide a table, chairs, and space to set up your materials.
They would like to include many of your organizations/programs on the flyer which we will send out (twice) to kids and families in Lakewood and on base. You can visit the link below to register and let them know that you will be attending.

2012 Creative Leadership Awards
The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2012 Creative Leadership Awards. The operating environment for nonprofit organizations today is daunting. Demographic shifts, evolving technology, changes in public funding and philanthropic priorities, as well as increased competition for consumer and audience attention have all contributed to an uncertain and highly dynamic landscape. While some organizations struggle in this environment, others are “bright spots” – they are thriving amidst the challenges.*
The Creative Leadership Awards have been established to recognize those nonprofit leaders, organizations, and coalitions that are successfully adapting to this changing environment and who are doing so without exceptional resources. Award recipients exemplify the attitudes and abilities needed right now – they are creative, nimble, and bold – and they are implementing strategies that will ensure their organization’s long-term sustainability. These strategies include:
Timeline: Nominations for the 2012 awards must be submitted by 5:00 PM, Pacific Time, May 4, 2012.
The Foundation will honor these bright spots by providing up to four $50,000 awards to nonprofits in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska) whose work aligns with our funding programs. The awards highlight promising adaptive strategies that can be replicated by other nonprofits. They will also provide tangible examples of how to implement sustainable change during a challenging time.
See the Paul G. Allen Family Website for more information and to submit a nomination.
